The “Vividha” section features the handlooms and crafts of Karnataka, distinct from the rest of our Khadi collection.

Product details
This Gudaar Patti Tablemat is woven on a narrow handloom in North Karnataka using a cotton warp and jute weft, a combination that has defined Gudaar Patti’s character across generations of rural use. The mat’s surface is naturally dense and slightly textured, and it sits flat under plates, bowls, and hot dishes without extra support. Two sides hold the natural selvedge edge from the loom, and the other two sides carry an eyelash fringe finished with stitching. Dining table mats do not often come with this kind of history behind them, or this level of material honesty. These are made for tables that are used, not merely for those that are photographed. If you have been looking for cotton table mats online that carry both function and meaning, this is a good place to stop.

Size: 14” x 15”. Refer to the last image.
Colour: Stripes in moss green, cream, black, mustard and grey.
Weight: 200-300 grams, depending on the set.

In the past, "Gudaar Patti," a traditional small-width strip of fabric, was woven, and women in households would join them together using "Katri Holige" (Scissor Stitch) to create a larger piece of cloth. The resulting textile was so durable that it was used to cover bullock carts for shade and to shelter harvested food grains stored outside. All of this changed with the advent of plastic cement covers!

Spot clean with a damp cloth for everyday use. If a full wash is needed, hand-wash gently in cold water with mild soap, and lay flat in the shade to dry.
