Product details

• We sort, wash, and skillfully tailor abandoned khadi fabrics (100–250 counts, whites and off-whites) into unique art pieces, giving discarded cloth a new, purposeful life.
• Upcycling fabric requires more time and often incurs higher costs than buying new, but we believe it is essential for environmental sustainability and conscious living.
• Each Buthi supports Karnataka's local cotton farmers, handspinners, weavers, and in-house tailors, creating a ripple of positive impact across rural economies.
• Our in-house tailors dedicate dozens of hours to crafting these one-of-a-kind, multi-purpose textiles, ensuring quality, durability, and an impeccable finish.
• Drawing from Korean "Pojagi" joinery and Japanese "Furoshiki" wrapping traditions, Buthi invites you to creatively wrap, carry, and store with cloth.
• Use these textiles as lunch box wraps, table napkins, bandanas, reusable gift wraps, or for any creative daily purpose.
• Named "Buthi" (ಬುತ್ತಿ), the Kannada word for lunch box, these pieces honour the farmers and labourers who carry Buthi while working in the fields.
• Sold as a set of two; no two Buthi napkins look alike, making each piece a unique reflection of conscious craft.
• Sized 24"x24" (61x61 cm), each set weighs 150 grams, easy to fold and carry for everyday or travel use.

About care
  • Wash separately in cold water with mild or no detergent. Dry in the shade and avoid bleach or tumble dryers.
  • Our Khadi is pre-shrunk; in some instances, it may shrink by 3%.
  • With every wash, due to de-starching, Khadi gets softer and better.
  • Each Khadi piece is spun and woven in Karnataka—unique in texture, rich in heritage, and light on the planet.
  • Slight fading and colour variation may occur; that’s the charm of natural dyes and hand processes.
About sizes
  • Size charts on product pages reflect the actual garment dimensions and not body measurements.
  • Compare our chart with a blouse or garment from your wardrobe that fits you comfortably, and you will find a match.
  • Our size chart is unique and won't reflect UK or US sizing.

About us
  • Metaphor Racha is a self-funded, for-profit, e-commerce-based business run by an entrepreneurial couple - Brinda and Ravi, from Bengaluru, Karnataka.
  • All our products are handcrafted within the state, and in rare instances, we work with partners outside of Karnataka.
  • We don't have any retail store; the Frazer town, Bengaluru address acts more like a fulfilment centre.
  • All our products are made from pure cotton, spun and woven Khadi from Karnataka, except in the "Vividha" section, which showcases handloom and other village crafts from Karnataka.
