Product details
This full-sleeve khadi shirt is for the kind of man who notices things. Made from pure cotton khadi, handspun and handwoven in Karnataka, the space-dyed Bonne Nuit yarn gives the fabric a depth that shifts between dusty rose and warm plum. The fabric is pre-washed and destarched, so it has already shrunk and is soft. The relaxed fit and full sleeves make it a shirt that works through cooler mornings, longer evenings, and most things in between. If a shirt with this much thought in it sounds like something you want in your wardrobe, you probably already know what to do.

Details: Two-piece collar. Full sleeves with cuff. Shaped hem. Front patch pocket with a side dart and visible stitching detail at the corner. Back yoke with prominent saddle-stitch detail and a box pleat. No thick fusing or buckram in the collar or placket, keeping everything soft against the skin. Non-corrosive metal buttons throughout. Individually cut and sewn in our Bengaluru studio.

Intent: In Kannada, a Chammara is a cobbler. His most recognisable mark is the stitch, thick, unhurried, and placed exactly where the material is most likely to give way. It is a stitch that does not apologise for being visible.

The bold stitching along the back yoke of this shirt is a direct borrowing from that tradition, a seam that both holds and announces itself. The front pocket carries the cobbler's reference further still. A small side dart gives it a gentle forward curve, the same shape as the toe box of a hand-lasted shoe. It is functional; it allows the pocket to sit away from the chest rather than lie flat; and it is also a quiet tribute to a craft that shapes things three-dimensionally and understands how flat material must be coaxed into form. Chammara is not ornament. It is a structure made visible.

Weight: 350 grams/shirt

Why investing in Khadi at Metaphor Racha feels more considered.

10 Differentiators and Benefits.

1) Rooted in Karnataka: Our khadi comes from long-term work with Karnataka’s rural Khadi clusters and craft communities. Working close to home builds deeper relationships and a lighter production footprint.

2) A mark that speaks: KVIC Khadi Mark certification ensures legal compliance and genuine ambara charkha handspun khadi across our range, so what reaches you is legally and technically verified as real khadi.

3) Product-specific fabric strategy: Each product uses Khadi fabric chosen for its purpose. Sarees, clothes, towels, and home textiles each have their own texture and count, washed and softened for immediate comfort and longevity.

4) Clear material commitment: We work only with ambara charkha handspun, handwoven, pure cotton khadi, made with minimal electricity and maximum care, where time and skill shape the cloth.

5) Khadi beyond clothing: Khadi is not limited to what you wear. We design home essentials alongside apparel to show how Khadi extends into functional products for kitchens, bedrooms, and everyday corners.

6) For everyday life: Our focus is on daily living, not just festivals or special occasions. These products are meant to be used, washed, lived in, and loved often.

7) Learning along the way: Through our writing in the blog and product descriptions, we share the people, processes, and meaning behind Khadi in an honest, easy-to-understand way, reducing confusion and helping customers make confident, informed choices.

8) Close to the makers: We work directly with artisan cooperatives, giving makers the freedom to design. Our work is shaped by direct engagement with craftspeople, where dignity and fairness come first.

9) Gentle choices: We choose human-paced production, less waste, fewer distractions, pieces that age well and remain useful for years, and thoughtful packaging. Here, sustainability is lived, not advertised.

10) Entrepreneur-driven and accessible: As a Bengaluru-based, entrepreneur-led khadi brand, we offer a clear, modern online experience and bring clarity, access, and intent to khadi. We are one of the rare khadi brands in India, founded by an entrepreneur, not a government institution.
