From hand-block printed labels to e-generated bills, we strive to make eco-conscious choices. One of our biggest challenges has been finding the right packaging solution that aligns with our values and meets our diverse product needs.
The Challenge of Traditional Packaging
Initially, we used brown carton boxes, which seemed a sustainable choice. However, these boxes often required additional plastic coverings and sometimes didn't suit the variety of products we offer, from delicate handkerchiefs to large, multi-layered quilts. Buying and storing cartons of different sizes was impractical, and brown doesn't mean green and doesn't make packaging sustainable unless recycled. We also questioned the environmental impact of post-consumer waste, which can sometimes exceed production waste.
Our Eco-Friendly Solution
To address these issues, we opted for a more thoughtful approach. We now use jute fabric with a thin layer of permissible polythene glued inside, which we source locally. Our tailors cut and stitch these jute pouches to fit each purchase precisely, ensuring no material goes to waste. This method has significantly reduced the need for plastic covers and allows us to offer customized packaging that suits the size and shape of each product.
Why Jute?
Jute is a natural, biodegradable material that aligns with our commitment to sustainability. Our jute pouches are environmentally friendly and practical, as they are waterproof and, according to feedback, rodent-proof! The simple design of our packaging is purposeful. At the same time, it may not have a flashy "wow" factor, but it effectively addresses our sustainability concerns and ensures the safe delivery of our products.
